What is one fun fact about you?
While at Stanford, I was able to use STAP funds to take a 40-hour community certification course on the Basics of Mediation. In addition to opening the door for some wonderful volunteer opportunities, the new skills I learned and honed have been hugely impactful on the job. Having effective conflict resolution and communication skills is key to accomplishing my work as a Digital Library Services Manager.
What is one thing that you like about working at Stanford?
I greatly appreciate the flexibility and support I've been provided to grow my career at Stanford, which has changed significantly over the course of time. If you have initiative and resourcefulness, and stay committed to navigating the bureaucracy, Stanford can definitely meet you halfway!
Tell us briefly about an event, project, program or initiative you were involved with at Stanford that you're most proud of.
I was thrilled to manage the Martin Wong Catalogue Raisonné (https://exhibits.stanford.edu/martin-wong) project, a collaboration with a group of art historians at Stanford and beyond. I love that when we work together by sharing information and expertise, we produce amazing research output that is greater than the sum of its parts. Open communication and knowledge-sharing are invigorating, and the environment at Stanford fosters this more than any other place I've worked.
What is one of your favorite memories while working at Stanford?
Some of my favorite memories from working on the Stanford main campus revolve around the abundance of flora and fauna. From the Buddha's Hand citrus tree outside Bldg. 200, to the prolific kumquat trees on the Lathrop patio, to the Arizona Garden, and more. As I am now working remotely, I miss picking those kumquats and baking delicious treats for my colleagues. I'll always remember the fox I saw one early morning on my walk to campus up Palm Drive, the huge blue heron that landed in a tree outside our office window, and the birds of prey I sighted up close on a quiet Sunday walk around campus.
