What is one fun fact about you?
I inquired about a "Help Wanted" sign on a Friday at noon in September 1990, was hired and worked four hours that day, and have never left Stanford.
What is one thing that you like about working at Stanford?
The great people with whom I get to work each day.
Tell us briefly about an event, project, program or initiative you were involved with at Stanford that you're most proud of.
In November 2018, Stanford was scheduled to host two NCAA women's soccer second round games on a Friday night. Because of the very poor air quality from the Camp Fire, we had to find another location for those games. At 10:30 a.m., I cold-called the Salinas Sports Complex to see if their field was available. We ended up playing two games that night, 75 miles away, pulling together several of my colleagues within two hours to drive to Salinas to run the event. The way the group came together, made me proud to work with such flexible and creative people.
What is one of your favorite memories while working at Stanford?
Hosting the 2010 NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship in Maples Pavilion with Stanford winning in dominating fashion in front of a crowd of 6600 people. The group of seniors won three matches their freshman year so it was amazing to watch them progress to winning the championship on their home court in their final year.
